betjl — Double Exposure Blackjack — See both of the dealer's cards and make smarter decisions
An exciting new take on classic blackjack — where both dealer cards are face up and you can make decisions with complete information.
What Is Double Exposure Blackjack?
Double Exposure Blackjack is a special variant of regular blackjack where the dealer's two cards are both placed face up — no hidden card. This single change completely transforms the strategy of the entire game.
In regular blackjack the dealer keeps one card hidden, so the player must guess. But in Double Exposure you can see the dealer's full hand, which makes decision-making far more informed.
In exchange for this advantage, the game adds some special rules — such as the dealer generally winning on ties (pushes) and natural blackjack payouts potentially being different. Knowing these rules before you play will make your experience at betjl much more enjoyable.
Core Rules
Both Cards Face Up
At the start of every round both dealer cards are placed face up. You can hit, stand or double down with complete information in front of you.
Dealer Wins on Ties
When your total and the dealer's total are equal (a tie or push), the dealer wins. This is the most important special rule in Double Exposure — the only exception is a natural blackjack tie.
Natural Blackjack
Getting 21 with your first two cards (Ace + a 10-value card) gives you a natural blackjack. In Double Exposure, if a natural blackjack ties, the player wins — that is the one exception.
Double Down and Split
In most Double Exposure variants you can double down on any two cards. If you receive two cards of the same value you also have the option to split, though doubling down on a split hand is generally not allowed.
Dealer Hits on Soft 17
In most variants the dealer is required to hit on soft 17 (Ace + 6). This rule has a significant impact on your strategy — always check the dealer's hand before deciding.
No Insurance
Because both dealer cards are visible in Double Exposure, there is no need for an insurance bet and it is generally not offered. If the dealer has blackjack, it is already visible from the start.
Basic Strategy Guide
Since both dealer cards are visible, Double Exposure Blackjack strategy differs considerably from regular blackjack. Keep the following general guidelines in mind:
| Situation | Strategy | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Dealer total 12 or less | Hit | Dealer is more likely to bust |
| Dealer total 17 or more | Be cautious | Dealer has a strong hand — you need to be strong too |
| Your total and dealer's total are close | Hit | Dealer wins on ties — a draw means a loss |
| Dealer total 13–16, your total 17+ | Stand | Take advantage of being ahead |
| Dealer total 12 or less, your total 11 | Double Down | Doubling down is profitable when the dealer is weak |
| Ace Ace Split | Always Split | Start with two 11s — double your chances |
This table is a summary of general strategy. Each situation depends on the full hand and the specific rules in play.
Things to Remember
- The dealer wins on ties — you need to beat the dealer, not match them
- Natural blackjack is the most valuable hand
- Be aggressive when you see the dealer has a weak hand
- Reduce risk when you see the dealer has a strong hand
- Doubling down after a split is generally not allowed — plan accordingly
